Purpose

Mangawhai Osteopathy is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and professional environment for patients, clinicians, staff, and visitors.


This Code of Conduct outlines the behaviours expected within our clinic to ensure high-quality care and a positive therapeutic environment for all.

Our values

At Mangawhai Osteopathy we aim to:

• Provide compassionate, evidence-informed, person-centred care
• Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive clinical environment
• Foster respectful relationships between patients, clinicians, and staff
• Support the wellbeing and safety of everyone attending the clinic

Mutual respect

We ask all patients, visitors, and staff to:

• Treat others with courtesy and consideration
• Communicate respectfully, even when distressed or frustrated
• Respect cultural, neurodiversity, disability, and individual differences
• Support a calm clinic environment suitable for clinical care

Unacceptable behaviour

The following behaviours are not permitted within Mangawhai Osteopathy:

• Offensive, discriminatory, or abusive language
• Verbal aggression, intimidation, or threatening behaviour
• Physical aggression or invasion of personal space
• Harassment of any kind, including racial, sexual, or disability-related harassment
• Persistent or unrealistic demands that place staff under undue pressure
• Threats of retaliation, complaints used as intimidation, or coercive behaviour
• Damage to clinic property or theft
• Fraudulent access to services or misrepresentation
• Any behaviour that compromises the safety or wellbeing of others

Clinical environment expectations

To support safe and effective care, we ask patients to:

• Arrive on time and prepared for their appointment
• Follow clinician guidance relating to safety and treatment
• Inform clinicians of changes in health status or medication
• Respect privacy and confidentiality of other patients
• Supervise children accompanying them unless attending for care

Trauma-informed approach

We recognise that many patients live with complex health experiences and may present when distressed, fatigued, or overwhelmed.


Our team has training in Trauma Informed Practice and will respond with sensitivity and compassion. However, behaviour that compromises safety or dignity cannot be accepted.

Response to breaches

If behaviour does not align with this Code of Conduct, Mangawhai Osteopathy may:

• Address concerns directly with the individual
• Pause or terminate an appointment
• Request the individual leave the clinic
• Decline or discontinue services
• In serious circumstances, seek external support or assistance

Implementation of these actions is at the clinic’s discretion and prioritises safety.
