Testimonials:
I felt like it feels doing physical education - after being away on Summer holidays at school. Every muscle! All the muscles up and down my legs were sore! Good sore. Reminded me of being a kid. I thought that finding some improvement in my general wellbeing was going to take numerous treatments with Jacquelyn, but to my surprise I started to feel those gains almost immediately. It was the realisation that all I need to do is to keep moving, as often as I can, that has helped me achieve this so quickly. My lifestyle lends itself to me being quite sedentary, and Jacquelyn has already shown me that being more conscious of not keeping still for too long is all I need to feel like a new person. Two treatments down and feeling great! Frances, Mangawhai I have found Mangawhai Osteopathy the perfect balance between treatment and rehabilitation. In the beginning I needed treatment just to get through the week, but now the corrective movement class is enabling me to have less treatments and its helping in all aspects of my everyday life. At work I have the ugliest and the most uncomfortable chair, circa 80’s, it has a hard plastic base and slight padding on the back rest with rusting steel legs. My boss cringes everytime he walks into my office pleading that I upgrade to a more comfortable chair. Ironically a more ‘desk friendly’ chair with it’s ergonomics and excessive padding gives me more back and neck pain. It’s causes me to slouch and I spend all night tossing and turning. Student, Mangawhai Osteopathy Corrective Movement Class I first took my son to Jacquelyn when he was 4 weeks old. He was a very unsettled baby who constantly seemed to have trapped wind which made him miserable and lead him to cry a lot in the evenings before bedtime. To watch his first treatment was amazing - he thoroughly enjoyed it and literally came alive and was smiling so much! This continued in his 2 following treatments. I can't claim to understand the 'how' behind it, but I can honestly say that my son is a lot more settled and we only have the odd trouble with wind - nothing like what we were use to daily! Our sincerest thanks to Jacquelyn, Kayden & I just loved our treatments with you! Belinda, Whangaparoa Bladder prolapse and leaking after childbirth. After my first child being delivered naturally I had bladder prolapse and pelvic floor issues. When pregnant with my second child I had issues with my pelvis. By the time my 2nd child was 10 months my pelvis was quite sore most of the time and I was experiencing quite a lot of lower back pain. I was jogging again and everything felt quite jammed up but I just pushed on as we mums do. I couldn't sit with my legs in front of me without slumping. I just couldn't sit up tall due to pain and restriction in my pelvis. I had tried a chiropractor, and was doing Pilates but hadn't seen any real improvement. Jacquelyn treated me once, and identified that my pelvic floor muscles were very tight, particularly in one side, where they attached to the base of my pelvis. After working on those muscles, my sitting improved immediately, and my pelvis felt so much more mobile. Jacquelyn gave me some exercises to do before running, including my pelvic floor, and my pelvis felt so much better while running. I can highly recommend Jacquelyn as a practitioner. Her knowledge is amazing and she's always very thorough and professional. And she does it with a lovely smile as well. Kirsty, Melbourne I feel like superwoman! Thursday when it was raining so hard and the wind was blowing, I was trying to open the garage door, which has to be done manually and it is quite heavy. I could not get it open as the wind was pushing the door down on me and I was trying really hard to open it using my back, which had no strength and wasn't even moving it an inch. I thought then hang on... let me "switch my legs on". I stood with my legs hip with apart and pretended I had the band around my legs pushing out and what would you know, I was like super woman pushing the door up against the wind and had absolutely no pain in my back afterwards! Anyway, just thought that was an "a-haaaa!" moment... I did you proud.... :) Lisinda, Mangawhai Just do it! Everything you're showing me makes me feel better! Bryan, Mangawhai. The pain just went after the class. I did something in Jacquelyn’s My Rehab Class and afterwards I thought ‘Where’s the pain?’. It just went ‘blip’ gone! I thought hmmm, is this my imagination but it was gone. One of the exercises de-pressurised the situation. As if the keystone went ahhhh, I’m meant to be here, and everything else fell into place. Anonymous, Northland Just Like Magic! Jacquelyn is truly the most amazing and knowledgeable practitioner I have ever known. One of her many skills is how to make pain dissipate by self management. On a scale of 1-10 the pain in my right shoulder was 8 and that in my hip flexor was 6. She diagnosed I have a flexion back type with a left bias and was asked to perform 2 simple exercises on that basis. I was absolutely astounded – the expression on my face was apparently priceless - to then note the pain had subsided on the scale to 1 and 0 respectively. It was gone just like magic! Thank you Jacquelyn therapist extraordinaire! Marianne (Mangawhai) From climbing 4 to 15 sets of stairs! I'm currently visiting a family member on a daily basis who is long term care. I make sure I take the stairs every time. 4th floor. After the 3rd or 4th day I noticed a huge difference in my ability. Remembering Jacquelyn’s techniques from class, pushing through my heels & feet, and now taking alternate flights in lunges. My next challenge is the transfer of my family to the 15th floor! I can’t wait to incrementally make it to 15. Thank you to Jacquelyn. Tania (Northland) The simplest answer from Jacquelyn to stop cramping! I was getting cramp in my toes when I was fishing on the boat so I put the toe spreaders between my toes and the cramp stopped! Mark (Mangawhai) Pilates 1-1 Jacqui taught me Pilates for a number of years, both in a class and 1:1, while she was studying osteopathy. Her in-depth knowledge, sheer enthusiasm and complete passion for Pilates and full mobility ensured that I understood the exercises and most importantly what we were trying to achieve and why. Her creative explanations and use of small equipment enhanced the Pilates Matwork sessions to a level I've found very hard to equal in other Pilates classes and teachers. Our weekly session were often my favourite hour of the week! She's left me with a passion, a good understanding and a commitment for Pilates. If you are fortunate enough to be able to go to a class or have a 1:1 session with Jacqui you will learn a huge amount and your body will certainly thank you for it! Clare (London) Pilates student of Jacquelyn's for many years in London! Osteopathy combines with Strength & Conditioning Jacquelyn's results providing osteopathic treatment were extremely outstanding. Jacquelyn was originally recommended by a client of mine to get in contact with. I am so glad I did. If any of my clients (Strength and Conditioning) had a problem I would recommended them to go and see Jacquelyn. She treated many of my clients and was able to get them back to training. Jacquelyn provided me with areas to improve a clients issues. Jacquelyn and I would often have long discussions across a wide range of topics, sharing experiences and together we created a brilliant rapport. I learned so much from her. I have worked with a couple of Osteopaths in the past and to say the least, Jacquelyn was in another league. I was so unhappy that she moved away (to New Zealand!) as people who are this good do not come by very often. I would whole heartedly say do not hesitate to work with or be treated by Jacquelyn. Ian Willows (Nottinghamshire, England) Re-discovering back muscles. Last Thursday’s Pilates Rehab class efforts caused me to re-discover back muscles that I had forgotten were there! I am now consciously remembering to hold myself up-and-strong when walking, climbing stairs etc. and I hope it will become an unconscious reaction after my 6 weeks of getting about in France! I have found your teaching very beneficial in that it teaches me to use my body in a more efficient and therefore less injury-prone manner. It’s not just another feel-good-for-a-day exercise class! Kazza (New Zealand) Instant relief from disc pain! Using the Elevator Pilates technique [rebeccaleone.com] I was able to get instant relief from discomfort of disc damage. It really came in handy on a 12 hr flight a few days later proving for me it's very effective. The Wagon Wheels Pilates technique [rebeccaleone.com] takes a few minutes to do. It changed the way my balance and co-ordination worked in my legs and lower back. My stance changed and it was like learning to walk again. the 'new' feeling lasted about two days. Gairn McLennan (Mangawhai) It took me 7 years to find her!
After 7 years seeing Osteopaths I can say that you really really helped me and gave me resources to help myself better that any other Osteopath by far!!
Jordi (Auckland)
No more neck pain. Thank you so much for your recent Osteopathic treatment, especially the advice you gave me on my neck. After our discussion I am trying to stand taller and imagine that little piece of string pulling my head towards the ceiling. I have already noticed less discomfort in my neck - thank you! Susan (Marketing Consultant, Sydney) The heaviness gone from my pelvis. After doing the wagon wheels pelvic realignment protocol I felt like my lower back was lighter and wasn't getting crushed anymore! It felt like so much heaviness for so long. I always wondered 'How do I lift that pressure off?'. Now I have a resource to use. Amy (Orewa) Running technique - a new perspective. Hey Jacquelyn! After we talked on Friday I really focused on heels up, weight bearing on the ball of my foot and my breathing and I had absolutely no pain at all. For the first time I've felt utterly exhausted after a run because I didn't have to nurse my knee. Dan (Auckland) My spine and legs untwisted! Recently the wonderful Jacquelyn taught me wagon wheels. On my second try I was able to get my spine and legs to untwist. It was truly amazing! The end result was a huge release of tension through the whole body and I felt a wonderful lightness from head to toe. Anna (Northland, New Zealand) Use your Pilates spine Aileen! As a teacher I have a great deal of admiration for Jacquelyn. She is creative, energetic, boundlessly enthusiastic, encouraging and totally committed to making a difference to people's lives. Every time I got tired from walking I kept hearing her voice say "Use your Pilates spine"! I did! Aileen (Auckland) Ten years of Pilates with Jacquelyn. Jacquelyn taught me Pilates once a week after the birth of my youngest child for the next ten years. She was always positive, punctual and consistently helpful with improving a weak knee and my posture! Emily (London) 15 years working together - now I feel better than I did 20 years ago! I have known Jacqui for 15 years. I always found her to be extremely capable, cheerful and encouraging. I am now 72 and have had surgery and chemotherapy but with all the teaching and insight Jacqui has given me over the years I feel better than I did 20 years ago! Christina (London) I am now 100% pain free. I was in agony last week with a back injury and I saw Jacquelyn for a quick session. I am now 100% pain free. I have had this injury previously and my doctor just told me to rest. Jacquelyn got to the root of the issue and I feel great now. Thanks so much! Nicholas (Sydney/ Ireland)
I initially went to her class as I had a car accident which still caused me some difficulties, though Jacqui’s focus, commitment, care and attention I'm 1000 times better for which I will always be hugely grateful.
